What this volley shows
The reference is a forehand volley by a different, right-handed player. The racket meets the ball at about 7 m/s with its face open about 18°, after moving only 59 cm in the last 0.15 s. A forehand drive moves 212 cm in the same time.
There is almost no backswing and no whip. The body sets the racket in front, and the open face sends the incoming ball back with a little underspin, so the speed comes from the ball rather than from the swing.
This page has one recorded volley and no cards that change it. No ball is drawn: the incoming ball in the data bounces near the baseline, so it is not one met in the air at the net. The forehand and the two-handed backhand show the whip this stroke leaves out.
